Canadian Pleasures

So I just so happen to be in Canada! I also just so happen to be with the most beautiful woman I have and will ever know. I feel great! Basically, the simple things in the world are what continue to inspire me. The classic views the world has to offer. Niagra is a very interesting place. I must say it is rather expensive from a tourist standpoint. Good thing is that it reminds me of America. Shucks! It is America. Don't let the Canadians fool you...Canada is America! I'm not sure if the fall or winter is the best time to go to Canada, but the wife and I had a GREAT TIME!!! Yeah I said it!!!
The LEG has set his sails and all things are GREAT! Things take time and I'm just sucking in the beautiful air. Hey folks, I just found out there are no serial killers in Canada! Can you believe that? I sure can not. Not in the slightest could I believe there are no serial killers in this cold location. The world is a crazy place...but come on people...there has to be some craziness going on in Canada. Either way, the view is great where we are. We are literally on the falls. Rainbows everyday. I am inspired. Today I am 5 days old. My life has just begun and I plan on just doing things the right way.

Keep Writing

I started out not knowing I was going to be a writer. Becoming a Poet was the least thing on my mind. My reason for writing was to create inspiration for all the writers out there that needed that extra incentive to keep moving forward. I must say that it takes time to get to a point of completion. I started of writing a few pieces in college. I kept the pieces. I got tired of going to events and seeing the performing artists literally writing what they were going to perform to the audience. So I kept on writing. I hid my style until it was necessary for it to be distributed to the public. I worked on creating my first volume and completed it with a lot of hard work and dedication. I learned I had a style and I soon learned that it needed to be mastered within the coridoors of my own desires and time. From one volume to to six volumes to the amalgamation of all volumes to Mortally Immortal! If you have a dream follow it. Don't let the public break your building down before its come to fruition. Let the world recognize your HARDSHINE!!!

Lawren

Education is a Discipline

It's better to be prepared for an opportunity when it presents itself then to say I wish I had the formal background. School comes in many forms. Education is nothing without discipline. You can always get an education for free depending on what you are trying to understand. Buying a book and educating yourself still requires discipline. Discipline is the difference between a recessionary / depressionary circumstance. Everyone has their own skill set to acquire since we cannot all do the same thing throughout life from a trade perspective.

Radio Inauguration

On Sunday, September 27th I did my first RADIO STATION interview. The Show : African New Dawn, hosted by my personal friend Mr. Alvin Fair, on 88.7 Rutgers radio. At first I was a bit nervous. But once I got the headphones on I started to vibe off the questions. It was a beautiful event and I met up with some pretty cool contacts. My fiance; Magda, was there with me every step of the way showing support. There were no unfortunates about the situation. The interview was about the book and my style as an author. Can you belive it people!!! Also, I got the chance to read a poem from out of my book "Mortally Immortal". So I felt it only right to read "Forming Voltron"! From what I gather the feedback was AWESOME and i'm definately looking forward to being on the radio again. Slowly but surely the world will come to know my style and appreciate it like an exciting new FLAVOR to their SENSATIONS!!!

Stop Being Cheap

Ok, this is something I feel I need to bring up. First I am rather new to the world of being an author and attending events. When there is an event that I want to attend to solicit my books I pay the necessary registration fees. There are so many other authors that also pay for events. The problem is there are those CHEAPSTERS that have not paid to go to an event to solicit their books. I feel it's not right to crash an event when you have not paid and gone through the proper procedure. It is a competition; in itself, to sell books in this recessionary economy. There are some artists / authors that think they are entitled to attend an event without paying for admission. They think they can just come in and not PAY and solicit their books. I for one am not for that. I don't care how known or paid, or successful you are. PAY to PLAY!!! Thus, I'm not mad at the hustle I just think the hustler needs to be a person that abides by the rules. Basically, to me your a cheap jokester. Don't brag about going to an event and how successful or popular are when you cannot professionally patronize the event. I say you deserve to be kicked out of the event. Stop griping when you are kicked out.

No more Mouse Traps

Bottom line is you are what you create. If you are creating poor quality and expecting to sell via shucking and jiving then in all you are not a creator...instead a shucker and jiver... I'd rather create to the point where I'm beyond satified. I don't think we are in the position to continue to create poor products / services and expect patronage. Forget the mouse trap build a pyramid.

Just saw AL ROKER

Ok so I'm just getting back from lunch and felt I had to post this most recent compelling moment. So Ludhi (Co-worker) and I just came back from getting a hotdog and slurpee at 7-eleven. If you do not know about the famous 7-Eleven slurpees then I feel sorry for you...

Anyway, near the corner of 82nd and Lexington; (Manhattan) not too far from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, we sat down and started to eat our lunch while chilling with slurpees. When all of a sudden we notice this fairly short black man attempting to throw a bike into the back seat of his NEW MERCEDES CONVERTABLE; with the top down. First thing that came to my mind was...and I spoke out loud, this guy must be really rich to be flinging a bike into a Mercedes backseat. It seemed he had no care of the scratches being left behind on his silvered paint.

So I get a better glimpse of the man; since he is literally right across the street, and come to find out its...AL ROKER (NBCs TODAY). So Ludhi and I basically just staired for a moment, noticing he was a real person afterall. As we slurp our slurpees and finish off our hotdogs he starts to come across the street. Ludhi does not know what to say...so I say in my "get your attention distinguished voice"...MR. ROKER!!! He comes by and shakes our hand and from there makes his way into one of the brownstones. Well that's really all that happened. However, what came to mind is that I should carry business cards and books everywhere I go from now on. You never know when opportunity knocks on your door!

MORTALLY IMMORTAL!!!

Drawing the Impossible

Today, I start preparing for the long month of September. Oh yes, September...the month when the wind decides to blow warm or gives us a hint of the fall and winter to come. I must say that I'm not really a blogger but there is a first for everything. The poem that I am putting together today is called "Drawing the Impossible", from the 7th volume "The Mirror's Other Side". 2009 has been a very interesting and insightful year to say the least. If any a good thing could have taken place it has...if any painful and uneventful thing has taken place it has. So with all things GOD is GOOD!

Good thing is the book "Mortally Immortal" will be in stores late this October; early November, nationwide. I am so blessed by all the awesome reviews and beautiful guestbook posts. Keep them coming. My gameplan is to change thought process through love and dedication. To help people to keep moving forward through the understanding that there is nothing to gain or receive unless by due trial and commitment to your beliefs. We all have a calling in life...Things Take Time!!!

Looking forward to sharing my experiences, thoughts, photos, and emerging technologies with you all in a positive way. Keep coming back!!! Trust...this is just the beginning...

P.S. Practicing my performances...we do things professionally...now there is a Piano and Sax player on the team!!!
